I’m trying to mod my keyboard by adding back lighting. I was going to to use the scroll lock key for a switch and the LED indicatr light for the power supply. i counted 30 LED spots. I was wondering if i cud over load the circuit board on it.
im trying to add a backlight with 30 LED bulbs and i was thinking of using 1 led slot on the circuit board for the power supply. so was wondering if i cud overload or short circuit or cause any other damage to circuit board doing so

I’m learning programming for the first time (starting with C for beginner) but I first I want to understand exactly what happens when I type the key, let’s say "b" on my keyboard and seeing letter "b" appear on a notepad for instance.

My guess is this and I’m not sure to what extent it is correct:

First, a computer is, physically speaking, nothing but electricity and circuitry (matter; electronic components such as resistors, capacitors etc and electrical power which comes from the battery/wall and finally the way all these are connected to one another)

1. The keyboard, being an electronic device, needs electricity in order to work so it is powered by the computer through the USB port.

2. By pressing any key ("be" in our case), I’m actually closing a circuit which makes some current/voltage flow (high for 1 and low for 0)

3. Some programs (Operating system which then communicates to notepad God knows how) convert this series of high’s and low’s or 0’s and 1’s into what I see on my screen as letter "b" on the notepad.

Am I close to the reality of computing?

I mean how does the computer know that I have actually pressed the key "b" on the keyboard and not "a", does every key send some sort of special current or something? This part I need clarifying the most!

Does this have anything to do with "Hex"?

Thank you.
where does the processor come into play in all of this? my processor is 2 GHz, what does this mean in terms of typing and seeing something on the screen?

Im doing a little circuit bend project on an old keyboard, and want to transport the circuitry to a new housing. The keyboard has pressure pads for 20some keys and i’d like to reduce that. I’m wondering if I cut that board down to size if the remaining pressure pads will still work? All the cables leading away from the pressure pad part of the board are behind the keys im keeping. will this work?

I have a keyboard that I am trying to help a friend fix. The problem is that when you turn the power on the power light indicator only stays lit for a second or so and then goes out. We took it apart to see if there was something on the board/ circuits and there seemed to be something so we cleaned it with alcohol. I checked to make sure there weren't any connections that needed to be soldered. Any ideas or suggestions that I could try besides taking it to a repair shop??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

#1 The owner's manual doens't go into anything electronic, actually- I have never seen one that does.

#2 I have fixed many things without a "good knowledge of electronics" and so I think that I do stand a chance. I wouldn't have opened it up if I thought I wouldn't stand a chance.

I appreciate all of your help, but unless you have a real solution then I hope you enjoy your free points you earned from posting such a helpful response to my sincere question. THANKS!

The lower keyboard is not working

I want to diy an electronic expriment. It's about number keyboard and seven segment. If you press '0~9' or '.' ,it will show number or '.' on the seven segment, and pressng * will clear the seven segment. Now, I don't know how to design the circuit diagram, please help me.
What i want to do is not using computer, but on electronic board, which often used on experiment.
