Hello,
Where would I get started? What book would you recommend to a total and complete newbie that knows absolutely nothing whatsoever about electronics or electronic components but would like to one day be able to understand integrated circuits and whatever other electrical engineering things that I currently know so little about that the term above is the only one I know…and really I dont even know what an integrated circuit is….
What is the ultimate beginners book for this field for the total ignorant.
I cannot find a book titled "Electrical engineering for dummies"…
Please advise,
Thank you in advance for your time,
Perry in FL
I have found "Electronics For Dummies"..
Is this book still relevant for any of today’s technology? Or is this book an obsolete with only descriptions of equipment that is no longer used at all?
I have a college degree which i excelled in mathematics including college math, but before that statistics, college algebra, trig, etc..

Here are some options:

1. Complete cutoff of all trade between USA and Iran (like the Embargo with Cuba). Of particular significance would be parts for oil field replacements. If Iran’s oil revenues are cut in half, because of inability to pump, the Regime would be weaker, and more likely to fall.

If the priviledged classes in Iran find that they have no easy access to American made pharmaceuticals, they might re-think whether having Ahmadinejad as their leader is really such a great idea.

If the Revolutionary Guard and the Army found that they had no easy access to integrated circuits made in USA, they might wonder how long they could protect themselves from their neighbors. Same with filters, and purification systems, and chemicals of military usefulness.

2. The deportation of all non-US-citizen Iranians from USA. This would include the Iranian Ambassador and all Iranian delegations to the World Bank, the UN, or any other organization. They are all Persona Non Grata — 10 days to get on a plane and be gone from US soil.

3. All bank accounts linked to any terror-related organization in Iran frozen and impounded.

4. All electronic or telephonic communications originating in Iran and coming to the USA monitored.

5. All Iranian flagged vessels kept out of US waters, and not qualified to be insured by US based companies.

6. All US citizens warned that their passports no longer are valid for travel to or from Iran.

7. All businesses in USA with ties to Iran monitored and scrutinized.

8. Strong diplomatic efforts to nations friendly to USA to adopt similar measures.

9. Loans to the Israeli Air Force of tactical ordnance and platforms required to deliver it, plus spare parts, plus upgraded black boxes to make airborne platforms more stealthy and better able to precisely release satellite guided glide bombs, including bunker busters.

10. Efforts by the Treasury and the Federal Reserve and CIA, and State Department to de-stabilize Iranian currency on world markets thereby causing financial panic and ruin among many persons in Irans privileged classes.

11. Supply to Israel of non-nuclear but very powerful electro-motive pulse weapons to cause Iran to re-enter the 12th century.

12. Supply to Israel of carbon fibre weapons to eliminate power transmission facilities in Iran and help it re-enter the 12th century.

how to get started learning about electronics.?

my overall goal is to make electronic devices and 100% custom computers as a hobby (or a career later on) I am learning about microcontrollers such as arduino and I am learning how to program. where should I start if I want to get on track learning about electronics? i already know a little bit about what components do but not much about integrated circuits and how they play their roles. Where could i go to independently study it and what would I search for? by the way i’m in highschool.
thanks.
For clarification I wanted to know because I have an image of a motherboard design in my mind with all of the details but I don’t know how to actually get started making it.

Is it Time for Regime Change in Iran — and, if so, How Best to do it?

Physics Problem – Diffraction Limit?

Please help with one of my physics homework problems I am very stuck on.

"One of the main factors driving improvements in the cost and complexity of integrated circuits (ICs) is improvements in photolithography and the resulting ability to print ever smaller features. Modern circuits are made using a variety of complicated lithography techniques, with the goal to make electronic traces as small and as close to each other as possible (to reduce the overall size, and thus increase the speed). In the end though, all optical techniques are limited by diffraction.
Assume we have a scannable laser that draws a line on a circuit board (the light exposes a line of photoresist, which then becomes impervious to a subsequent chemical etch, leaving only the narrow metal line under the exposed photoresist). Assume the laser wavelength is 248 nm (Krypton Fluoride excimer laser), the initial beam diameter is 1 cm, and the focusing lens (diameter = 1.3 cm) is extremely ‘fast’, with a focal length of only 0.625 cm."

a) What is the approximate width w of the line (defined here as the distance between diffraction minima on either side of the central spot/ridge — see figure)?

b) What is the minimum resolvable line separation between adjacent lines?

c) If the laser wavelength is instead reduced to 157 nm (as is now potentially available with Argon Fluoride excimer lasers, though technical challenges remain), what is the new minimum resolvable line separation?

d) Assuming the size of the traces is the only constraint limiting the ‘areal density’ (i.e., how many components can be laid out per square centimeter), by what factor does the areal density increase in going from a writing laser with λ = 248 nm to one with λ = 157 nm?

e) Going back to the lithography system with a laser that produces light (in air) at λ = 248 nm, what minimum line separation can be expected in this case (i.e., what is the new answer to b), if the space between the lens and the photoresist is filled with water [n = 1.33 for water])? Hint: What effect does the index have on the wavelength of the light?

Learning how to build electronic things?

Hi everyone, I am interested in learning how to build electronic devices such as radio controlled cars, flashing lights, anything. I would like it if anyone could post good books, tuts, online lessons, and dvds.
I want stuff that starts from the very beginning that teaches how capacitors, transistor, Integrated circuits, micro-controllers, anything of the sort, works. I know nothing about electronics and would like to learn thanks.

Define these science terms?

Define

• Electronic devices-

• Electronic appliances-

• Cathode-ray tubes -

• Vacuum tubes-

• Integrated Circuits-

explain the basic computer, system software applications software, random access memory, point and draw device, integrated circuits or chips, peripheral devices, thin clients, server computers, super computers, client computer, input, output, or 1/0

I want a supplier of electronic parts ?

output horizontal, transistors, integrated circuits etc.

my store is in mexico tampico city

pls send me numbers phones of suppliers

I've been wondering how this occurs. I've already learned that integrated circuits are involved with the computer clock. Yet I still can't find any info on how it works when turned off. An extra electronic device perhaps?
