what is meant by load in circuits.?

folks,
what is meant by load in electronic circuits. what does they do.
please explain

I would like to discuss Electronics and Electronic circuits, does Yahoo! answers have a place to discuss and ask questions, or do I need to look elsewhere?
Sorry ToLive, I am not understanding "egurukool or egurukul is a site suitable for you. CHeck it out. Good luck! " I am not sure what and where are egurukool or egurukul?

About a year ago I promised my nephew that I would build a remote control boat for him. I thought I would have learnt radio controls when I did my Diploma in EEET but I was wrong. He keeps asking me about it and I really want to do it but, I have no knowledge on building radio controlled electronic circuits.

Can someone explain the ground wire to me?

I have been interested in building electronic circuits for a long time, but the diagrams would baffle me. i understand a bunch now but i see the ground wire symbol and wonder "what do i do with that?". so if im building a circuit that connects to the battery where do i connect the ground to? the negative end? the actual ground? idk please help!

I am interested in both electronic circuits and computer programming? What course should I take? If I take CSE, will I be learning about electronic circuits too? Lastly, can I take CSE as my undergraduate program-B.E. and do VLSI design in M.Tech? I’m interested in both hardware and software.

Building a simple sound triggered switch?

Hello, all –

I am looking to build a simple sound activated switch for my Canon XT DSLR camera. The camera has a jack (3/32" stereo) that is wired in this way –http://farm1.static.flickr.com/146/359549791_83d835b78a.jpg

Hooking up a simple wire to the jack via a plug and closing the circuit will fire the shutter, so the jack has a current running across it. The current its, I think, 3.5V at .5A (i’ll try to confirm that, the lack of a multimeter is yet again haunting me).

I have a decent competency in reading circuit diagrams /soldering. All this has to do is close a circuit once there is a loud sound (Not fire a flash, etc).

My biggest qualm is hooking something with voltage up to a live jack — guides how to modify one of the following circuits would be best, or a separate diagram/description would work too.

Thanks for your help!

It’s use of diodes, transistors and opAmps to build switches which is confusing me!

But, I’m aware that all these components act as a logic gate or a logic flow diagram when they act as a switch!

Can anyone send me the logic diagrams for following?

pn junction diodes.
Zener diode.
pnp and npn transistors in CE, CB & CC configurations.
OpAmp 741 under inverting and non-inverting conditions.

I’m very fluent with logic gates, thanks to my computer courses but I’m finding it very hard to build electronic circuits for a given function although I can draw the logic flow charts. I’m required to study only above components and if I’m thorough with the logic operations that can be done with above circuits, I must be able to draw circuits without trouble!
Joe:
Thanks. So, the only use of transistors in a logic circuit is to divide the current or just form a junction?
But, as describe here http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/tran.htm#testing if Transistors can be compared a pair of Diodes, it should be possible to use them as Logic gates!

Bert K:
I’m familiar with the part you have given a link to. It’s like this, you need logic gates to build digital circuits but the problem is there are no such thing as AND gates and OR gates which you can just buy from the shop and use in your circuit in case you want to build a real working circuit from your logic diagram. ’stead, you have to use other electronic components such as diodes and OpAmps to build these gates and make a working circuit. Am a bit confused in this part of using the logic diagrams to build real circuits.
hobart_elf:
It may not be used in a real setting but for introductory electronics, they use only these components to build electric circuits by rearranging them in different ways!
Friends,
Don’t be offended but I *know* this question is outdated but my syllabi still requires it and I can’t find much help else where in the internet.

So, I need answers as to how they are used rather than arguments on why they shouldn’t be used!

Can anyone explain this in futher detail?

Answer
Hello Lauren,

I think your choice should be influenced by the interest you had in the various topics that you studied. By now you have been exposed to several different topics. It's true that not all topics easily adapt to a project. When I was in your shoes, I chose a project in the electrical field. And it turned out that my career was in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

What I built was a demonstration of the principle that a current flowing at right angles to a magnetic field experiences a force at right angles to both the direction of the current and the magnetic field. I had technical problems and I have since considered several better ways I could have done it. My best idea is that I could have had the current flow in a path like the ropes and seat of a playground swing. The seat of the swing could have been the portion of the circuit where the current flowed perpendicular to a vertical magnetic field. By turning the current on and off at the right times, the swing could have developed quite a significant swing.

The immediate application of this phenomenon would be motors. I did not work specifically on motor design. But considering that I started out to become a working physicist, to end up designing electronic circuits shows a relation to that high school project.

So my advice is to consider which topics have interested you more than others — your choice may just point you towards your eventual career.

I hope this helps,
Steve

I got this idea from a firend of mine and well, I don't want to breck it to him that I have no idea what he is talking about. Can anyone futher explain what he is talking about in easier to understand language than what he used??

Electrical, computer, engineering. What major?

For my future career, I want to design electronic circuits in graphics cards, processors, motherboards etc. I am not sure what this area is called. Is it electrical engineering or computer engineering? I have also heard of microelectronics engineering. What is the name of the major I should do in college. Also, do you know of where to get a scholarship for this area of study?

Would you think?

With the advent of synthetic reassembling of genetic engineering living organisms into new forms, like engineering electronic circuits, and with the entire code for the Poliovirus and other pathogens available FREE on the internet, that there might be a chance for the US to become a Bioweapon Playground for al-qaeda or some other lone wolf, that we should be worried? Or: NOT ?
HEY DIGGS !!!
I AGREE !!!!!!
HA !!!!!!!
To georgie …
There are US companies who manufacture custom-made snippets of DNA, called, " oglionucleotides, they come in tiny vials, through the mails my friend ..
thanks for your answer ..
cheers
