After I switched from AT&T hardline phone (PSTN) to iTalkBB Internet phone (VOIP) service, my same voice phone works just fine while my same fax machine does not. My Internet Service Provider (ISP) is Road Runner – a Time Warner Cable division. They give me a Motorola cable modem with one Ethernet port (RJ45) which I used for my D-Link router. All my two computers and two VOIP boxes, one for phone and one for fax with different phone number, are behind the router.

According to my VOIP provider’s advice, I’ve tried to slow down transmission speed (on fax machine) from the default 33.6 (mbps) to 9600 baud and turned off ECM. So far I can send out faxes to some numbers but not all numbers, and could not receive any fax including the very fax machine that received my fax.

My VOIP provider then suggested me to hook up the VOIP box directly to the cable modem so it has its own internet connection. I tried that by taking off the router from the cable modem and just plug in the fax VOIP box to the cable modem. It dose not work – did not even get the dial tong – either with regular patch cable or a crossover cable. Time Warner Cable told me that they do have two port cable modem but only give to me when I subscript to their digital phone (VOIP). However, their price is 8 times higher than iTalkBB ( vs per month). I tried to find a cable modem with more than one Ethernet port. I could not find any in three major electronic stores as Best Buy, Circuit City, and Micro Center.

I am now thinking to roll back my fax line to AT&T for a basic plan cost +tax= per month. That way I will be sure it works – it’s a hardline.

Somebody on Iinternet advised me to wait for the undergoing Fax Over Internet Protocol (FOIP). But I don’t know where this baby is – if any. On the other side of the story, somebody on Internet stated that he switched to VOIP, and his fax machine works flawlessly ever since for a year so far. My line condition is no comparison to his, but I did make some improvement – half way so far.

Is there anybody has a clue or suggestions please help me out. Many thanks!

Okay, here's my problem:

I just purchased a Samsung 37" LCD TV. I live in an apartment complex that uses a media company to supply video. The media company pipes in DirecTV to all of the units via coax cable. The signal is quite compressed and we have no box or receiver in our apartments to convert the signal, nor do they offer one. I called the media company and they told me that they don't have the receivers for our complex. I called DirecTV and they wouldn't sell me a receiver to use. Everyone I call refers me to someone else and I'm going in circles. Opening my own DirecTV won't work b/c my complex won't allow it. I've been to Best Buy and Circuit City and no one seems to know the answer. My pictures are quite grainy and I'm frustrated. There must be a electronic box of some sort that will take the compressed signal and convert it to the full signal. Can I buy a DirecTV box? Will it have to be activated? Please help!

On the th of May i contacted HP for a problem on my Desktop bought at Circuit City at th end of January 2008. After about 2 hours on the phone they tell me i have to ship to PC back. I do as they order in a prepayed (by hp) box. When i received the PC back it showed severe damage, practically almost all broken; signs shows that it had fall off a shelf. I contact immediately HP and they send me to Circuit to Fix it. Once there CircuiCity tells me they do not work in this way, and it was probably just a way to "fake" me. From there i contact the Customer support and it is said that my case has been escalated to the Manager who is colling me with 48 hours. 10 Days passes without any call, when a lady tells me she is the manager and want me to ship back the PC. I refuse stating that a PC that has fall off a shelf needs to be replaced not just fixed for electronic device will no longer have the expected life. She refuses hanging the phone on my face.

what can i do?
I can't use another Pc due to the expencive software installed on my PC. I can't buy another PC because i don;t have the money to buy all the software again.

In the main time at work they took away the projects that i used to coordinate and have downgraded me, on a "hold-position" to be fired. I'm facing financial consequence due to their actions. What can i do to see justice done?
The computer is so broken that i cannot even be turned on anymore. At Circuit city they refused to touch the PC stating that even a single touch may drive a complete data and part loss.
