As a concept consider drawing a line between all of the +9V points and another between all of the ground points. The first is the power bus line and the second the ground line/plane.  You have now tied up all the connections on the battery and all the connections on C4 and there is no reason to discuss why you might connect the battery to the capacitor.
  The open structure shown in the diagram is common because there are so many power points and so many ground points that the lines I had you draw simply confuse the situation.</description>
