That green coating is called Soldermask. It serves several purposes. Mainly, it prevents shorts between circuits and protects the copper from oxidizing.
As far as burning a circuit board, there are several toxins given off. You’re not only burning the soldermask, you’re burning fiberglass, etc.
I would simply advise against it.
