How to protect a Printed Circuit Board from moisture?

I need to protect a small printed circuit board used in elctrical devise that is used in rain. Water proofing the box has failed. i have heard that some sort of wax/sealent is applied to cover it but dont know what it is and where to find it. Please help

ok my way is an extreme but i suggest encase it in silicone let it dry then its water proof i saw a pic of a cooling system for a mother board it was encased in silicone and put in a fish tank
BUT BE WARNED ENCASING IT IN SILICONE WILL ADD TO THE HEAT PROBLEM ON SOME BOARDS
spray it with varnish, thats what is used in motor windings and it will not affect heat.
